Cutting the Ribbon

Midwest Healthcare

Waves of cheers and celebration reverberated through the halls of the new Parkview Southwest facility as Dr. Greg Johnson, Regional Market President at Parkview Health, Gail Altekruse, Vice President of Operations at Parkview Southwest, and Larry Weigand, CEO of Weigand Construction, cut the ribbon, officially opening the building. What first began as an idea in 2018 concluded after five years of inspiration, determination, and hard work

“The Parkview team is excited about the opportunity to serve and extend our services in our community to this campus and this beautiful facility…”

Dr. Greg Johnson, Regional Market President, Parkview Health

Strengthening Another Community

Indiana Healthcare Services

Serving the Southwest region of Fort Wayne, the new facility centralizes and brings additions to the existing Parkview services off of Glencarin Boulevard. Known as the Parkview Southwest Outpatient Center, the building gives patients access to a host of healthcare offerings such as:

  • Sleep Medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Colon & Rectal Surgery
  • Emergency Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • Cancer
  • Neurosciences
  • Orthopedics
  • Podiatry

“Our biggest consideration for bringing this group of services and this group of specialists to the Southwest part of Allen County was because, frankly, we were getting requests from other people that are part of the Parkview family that already come to Parkview for their healthcare, and they wanted something closer to their home and so we responded to that need.”

Gail Altekruse, Vice President of Operations at Parkview Southwest, Parkview Health

Excellence is Key

Patient Experience

Aware of how important this project would be for the community, Parkview leadership knew that they wanted to offer only the best for those coming to receive medical care at this campus.

“Rick Henvey, our CEO… has challenged us throughout this project to make this an excellent experience for our patients.”

John Bowen, President, Parkview Regional Medical Center & Affiliates, Parkview Health

We’re proud to partner once again with Parkview Health and bring this vision to life through the Outpatient Center addition!

8 New Features at the Mercer Health Ohio MOB

Mercer Health Maria Stein MOB

Patient Ready

Mercer Health staff and the Marion community gathered to celebrate the completion and opening of the new Marion Campus. Along with the grand opening, there were also guided tours of the building and a “shop local” event for surrounding businesses like Moeller Brew Barn, Winans Coffee and Chocolate, The Edge Sports Complex, and IOS.

Replacing the existing office off Marion Drive, this facility is now located on Booster Drive at Marion Industrial Park. The additional office space supports more practitioners in a medical office building, resulting in a great expansion of Mercer Health’s medical care services to the communities they serve in Ohio.

Final Progress Update

Take look at this video from November covering the campus and some finishing touches before the opening:

Being a Good Neighbor

Ohio Medical Office Building

“We are excited to enhance health care services in the Marion community. At Mercer Health we often talk about caring for our friends, family and neighbors. This isn’t just something we say, it is a promise. It is truly our mission, an honor we don’t take lightly, to care for our community.”

Mindy Kremer, Vice President of Development, Marketing, and Communications, Mercer Health

We are thankful for the opportunity to work alongside Mercer Health to construct a medical office building that fits their vision and purpose. We look forward to seeing friends, families, and neighbors of Maria Stein benefit from high quality healthcare in the years to come.

Two Eye-Opening Projects Score Wins at the BCA Awards

DSC2949

Two Award-Winning Projects

The results are in! We have two projects that have been awarded by the Building Contractors Assocation of Northeast Indiana. After careful consideration and reviewing the square footage, pricing, building process, functionality, and overall features of our jobs, the BCA has selected us as winners in two different categories:

  • Electric Works took the “Over $12 Million” Division.
  • Parkview Physicians Group Electric Works Clinic was chosen in the “$1 Million to $5 Million” Division.

This marks the 20th year that the BCA Annual Awards Program has highlighted standout construction projects in the Northeast Indiana Region. Electric Works, PPG Electric Works Clinic, Project Owners, and Weigand will be officially recognized during the Spring Membership Dinner & Awards Banquet on April 20th

A Team Effort

We’re proud of what our team has accomplished across all our projects in 2022. It’s the dedication to quality, doing what we say we’re going to do, and our commitment to the client that guides us in each and every job we take on. That being said, those values mean little in the grand scheme if they’re not upheld by individuals, crews, and project teams that believe in their significance too. We’re lucky to have a group that’s devoted to integrity at every level of leadership. From workers to project executives, it’s our mentality to go there together that has helped us succeed time and again throughout the years.

Exciting Ministry Unleashes Hope for Community

Raising Shovels for Hope

Bridge of Grace

Bridge of Grace leadership, donors, and committee members gleefully tossed soil with shovels in hand, officially breaking ground for the ministry’s new Early Childhood Development Center and Comprehensive Health Clinic this March. A piece to a bigger puzzle, the project is part of their “Hope Unleashed” Capital Campaign. The 30,000 square foot building will serve the Mount-Vernon Park and Pettit-Rudisill neighborhoods in Southeast Fort Wayne. Desiring to aide an overlooked section of Fort Wayne, groups from across the city joined forces and make this happen.

“We are just so excited. This is a monumental step to be able to have an early learning center provide quality of care for children; it’s just incredible. People here not only need these services, but also, they deserve it.”

Javier Mondragon, CEO and Founder of Bridge of Grace

First Step of Many

Bridge of Grace

“Hope Unleashed” currently raises funds in multiple categories such as housing, opportunity, progress, and education. As a result of the tremendous support shown for the community, the campaign garnered over $13 million in funding with a goal to reach $15 million by the end. In addition to the new facility, the donations cover home ownership programs, local business growth, park renovations, and more.

Bright Future Ahead

Bridge of Grace

Weigand is proud to partner with Bridge of Grace on this project. It’s an honor to be part of such an important job. Although this is just the beginning, we look forward to seeing the profound impact this has on Southeast Fort Wayne!

New Project Announcement: Mercer Health Campus is coming to Marion!

It is truly our mission, an honor we don’t take lightly, to care for our community.”

Mindy Kremer (VP of Development, Marketing, and Communications)

The Doctors are In

Groundbreaking

This fall, we held a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction at a new Mercer Health Campus site! The Coldwater, Ohio based health organization is planting a new medical office building at Marion Industrial Park. It will be home to both the Mercer Health Medical Group at Maria Stein and Dr. Heather Kleinhenz when it’s completed.

More Access for Marion

With 75 locals from throughout Marion present in total, it’s clear that many in the area are looking forward to this facility and what it brings to the community. Mindy Kremer, who is the Vice President of Development, Marketing, and Communications at Mercer, said this about the plans:

Mercer Health Marion

“We are excited to enhance health care services in the Marion community.  At Mercer Health we often talk about caring for our friends, family, and neighbors.  This isn’t just something we say, it is a promise. It is truly our mission, an honor we don’t take lightly, to care for our community.”

We can’t wait to get to work on this new campus! We’re proud to stand with Mercer Health in their mission to provide the best medical care for communities all over Ohio.

New Expansion Topped Out – Parkview Kosciusko

“It will be a place where hopefully they feel like their loved ones can come and receive care, and they feel like they’re safe while they’re there.”

Scott Gabriel (President, Parkview Whitley, Kosciusko Hospitals)

The Cherry on Top

DSC 0484

Celebrating the successful completion of the Parkview Kosciusko hospital addition’s frame, we put together a special, final beam. Once we had it primed and ready for signatures, it was signed by everyone who is involved in this project. After that, the tower crane lifted the last piece, where our team secured it. And with that, the construction of the expansion framework was complete!

Watch our team top off the steel right here!

For the County

DSC 0481

For Parkview leadership, this accomplishment is a testament to the community that they are serving. “Those grateful patients are always the key to what keeps us going,” says Scott Gabriel (President of Parkview Whitley and Kosciusko Hospitals). This expansion has been an ask by the Warsaw community for years. It will provide more accessibility for patients in the area to receive medical treatment. In the past, residents of Warsaw had to travel to neighboring counties for serious care. However, with the addition of this new section, that problem will remain what it was: a thing of the past.

“We opened up six years ago; the community immediately began asking, ‘When are you going to have inpatient beds; when are you going to have surgery?’ …To be able to say we’ve topped off our expansion project to include those services and more is great.”

Jeffrey Rockett (V.P. of Outpatient Services)

Just like the team at Parkview, we’re so excited to see the progress on this new section! We’re honored to join forces with them once again to meet the needs of this county.

New Build – The Miami County YMCA

“If there’s a time when we ever needed a new YMCA in Miami County, this is it…”

Mark Demchak (YMCA Director)

Residents of Miami County walked through the doors of their newly operational community YMCA location for the first time in February of this year. Weigand handled the project between all the parties involved as the construction manager. In helping to establish this new landmark, locals of Peru, IN can gather and grow together! Built just east of Peru West City Park, the new facility sits along the Wabash River.

It houses a number of features:

2.23.22 071
  • Basketball courts
  • Indoor track
  • Pool
  • Weight-room
  • Treadmills
  • Racquetball
  • Rooms for groups and classes
  • Lockers
  • Office space

Take a tour of the YMCA right here!

A New Home for the Practice

In addition, the 65,000-square-foot structure is also part of a relocation project for the Logansport Memorial Peru Medical Center. The rooms designed for the new location provide more adequate space for updated labs and equipment. As a result, the onsite practitioner and staff are enabled to offer several types of services. These include:

 0 41 Screenshot
  • Dermatology
  • Podiatry
  • OB/GYN
  • Orthopedics
  • Injury screening

Moving to the new YMCA allows the medical center to attend to a greater number of people and better care for the needs of the community. With the facility now up and running, locals can enjoy all that it has to offer!

Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Indiana

Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Indiana

The Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital in Mishawaka has finally opened it’s doors! The two-story, 56,500 square foot facility located just across the street from Saint Joseph Hospital by Edison Lakes, houses 40 beds for patients who are going through rehabilitation from stroke, brain injury, amputation and a range of medical conditions.

This stunning facility has lots of open spaces for rehab equipment with floor to ceiling windows for patients to be able to feel like they are enjoying the outdoors. The skills labs are equipped with kitchen and laundry appliances, as well as other home related spaces to help adapt to typical day-to-day living. The patient bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms where they can also relearn how to engage in self care and hygiene practices. Facilities like this are much needed to help people recover from complicated medical issues, where they can stay longer than a typical hospital would keep them.

Byron Wellness Community Nearing Completion: Drone View

Check out those neighborhoods! ?️ ? ?

The residents and staff at Byron Wellness Community will be moving into their new digs next week! Take a look at that beautiful campus, where residents will have their OWN rooms, with their OWN bathrooms (something many of them have never experienced!) and even their own green spaces allowing them to spend time outside without needing a staff member to accompany them.

We are so excited for the increased quality of life for the whole Byron Health Center family, as they finally move into the state-of-the-art facility they deserve, to match their state-of-the-art quality of care they provide. Congratulations! ?
