Indiana Wesleyan University Campus

Indiana Wesleyan University | Campus Construction

Already the largest private institution in Indiana, Indiana Wesleyan University is also one of the fastest-growing universities in the United States. To accommodate its growing student population, IWU has been rapidly expanding its main campus in Marion, IN.

Weigand Construction has served as general contractor on many of those projects, including the expansion of the Ott Hall Science-Nursing Building, Wesley Seminary, the campus chapel, and the new Football Stadium. Weigand has also participated in building satellite campuses across Indiana and Ohio.

IWU Football Stadium (44)

Wildcat Football Stadium & Training Facility

Making its first-ever foray into the sport, Indiana Wesleyan University got its football stadium just in time for the upcoming season in August of 2018. Working closely with Design Collaborative, the architects for this project, IWU leadership spent substantial time to determine not only what was best design for the athletes and staff, but also what was best for students and visitors coming to experience the arena on game day. With Weigand operating as the Construction Manager on this job, groundbreaking began in 2016.

  • Seating for up to 4,000 people
  • Visitor and Home Team Seating Sections
  • Seating Areas placed around the border of the field
  • Concessions and Restrooms
  • Visiting Team, Coach, and Officials’ Locker Rooms
  • A 17,000 square foot Home Team Support Facility with padded locker room, weight room, meeting rooms, and athletic training areas.

ott hall of science & nursing

The Ott Hall of Sciences & Nursing is a 115,000sf new construction facility completed in 2013, around the same time as Wesley Seminary. This building was constructed to support the addition of multiple graduate programs on the Marion campus. It currently houses the University’s Science, Nursing, Mathematics and Computer Information Science programs.

The building includes multifunctional classrooms, science and technology labs, a rooftop greenhouse, and a unique interior design surrounding a large, open atrium with flexible study spaces. Faculty offices are also located immediately adjacent to the classrooms and laboratories, encouraging student/faculty interaction with a generous collaboration space.

Indiana Wesleyan University Chapel

IWU’s Chapel, a new construction project completed in 2010 expands over 85,000 square feet. This venue is not only used for Chapel services, but also seminars, musical performances, and university assemblies.

The facility contains a 3,800 seat auditorium, executive offices, a catering kitchen, and a large common area for trade shows and events.

“In my assessment, Weigand’s strengths as a construction manager lie in their people, their quality, and their unique ability to oversee and convey the integrity and transparency we require of those we work with and around.”
