Concord Community Schools: Jake Field
The Concord Minutemen returned to a packed stadium following the extensive reconstruction of their athletic complex. Weigand served as Construction Manager for the $14.8 million project, with TMP Architecture as the design partner. Together with Concord Community Schools, the project team delivered a complete transformation of the longtime home of Minutemen athletics: Lawrence J. Jackowiak Field.
"It's exciting to see our community come out with so much support, our kids come out here to practice, and to get on the field for this first game, it's electric." - Rick Court, Athletic Director, Concord Community Schools
A New Home for Concord Athletics
The 18-month project represents a comprehensive redevelopment of the complex, replacing and upgrading nearly every major component of the facility. At its center is a new synthetic turf field, replacing the former natural-grass surface and expanding opportunities for football, soccer, marching band, and other activities. Surrounding the field is a new eight-lane competition track featuring a post-tensioned concrete base, one of only a handful of tracks of its kind in Indiana. The project also includes expanded track-and-field competition areas.
Spectators are experiencing significant improvements as well, with new home and visitor grandstands, a new press box, concession and restroom facilities, and new LED stadium lighting. The complex also features new team rooms, a scoreboard, and play clocks. The result is a modern athletic facility designed to serve functions reaching beyond Friday night football.
Honoring a Former Minuteman
The ceremony also paid tribute to the life and legacy of teacher and coach Larry "Jake" Jackowiak, whose impact on generations of students continues to be remembered through the facility that bears his name.
"Jake made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students and athletes, and it's fitting that this space, as a place where students will learn, compete, and grow, continues to carry his name." - Dan Funston, Superintendent, Concord Community Schools
Jake Field will provide a year-round home for Concord athletics, the Minuteman Marching Band, student activities and community events, creating a gathering place for generations of Concord students, families, and fans.

“It means the world to us that we can use the field again; we’re going to get a lot of use out of this. We anticipate all the teams playing on here, being able to get out youth on here quite a bit. Our marching band can use it without any issues. For our students to be able to use it more and get the most out of this awesome facility is going to be great.”
