Triad Metals International was the first company to partner with the Whitley County Redevelopment Commission and build in a new business park in Columbia City, Indiana. The decision to develop in Columbia City allowed Triad to compliment their marketing plan in western Ohio and Kentucky while allowing the development of new markets areas in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri.

Weigand was awarded the project after successfully bidding and then negotiating a design/build contract. We broke ground in November 2010 on the new 171,645sf steel distribution warehouse, which includes 7,000sf of office space and six acres of outdoor lay-down area. The 220’ x 750’ metal building portion of the project was supplied by Chief Buildings. The office portion of the project includes a geothermal heat pump system. This facility accommodates the following state of the art equipment and processes:

• 4 Zenar 20-ton bridge cranes with overhead rail system
• Beam splitter system with full material handling in and out

• Camber machine with a fully integrated material handling system

• Railway spur into plant for convenient and efficient loading

Each bay in the plant will measure 110’ wide x 750’ long to accommodate 70’ long wide flange beams and structural channel. Triad will employ approximately thirty-five people when full capacity is reached
