This endeavor was truly a community project that would not have happened without broad support. At the dedication we recognized key champions who contributed sacrificially to this effort. Volunteers provided leadership in every aspect of the project. Jodi Presswood was the chair for our primary fundraising event and did a terrific job. Parkview Hospital Foundation donated the playground equipment valued at over $100,000. A. Hattersley and Sons and Weigand Construction donated their crews to disassemble and move the equipment from its original site. Weigand Construction donated all of the construction management on the project. Dave Jankowski and Roger Dinius from Weigand were fantastic to work with. Mulchworx donated a portion of the playground mulch and used their blower trucks to install the material. Our Y facilities team, specifically Gary Gross and Shawn Zimmermann, stepped up to complete the construction.
This project was truly a labor of love. It was born from our Childwatch departments love for Reece and was brought to fruition out of love for our community. The Y is an oasis where families can thrive, people can improve their health and community happens.
If you were not able to attend the dedication, below is a clip from News Channel 15.
